I agree, but I believe they're making him look like a character from Steel Ball run, another manga in Ultra Jump.

And Makiko to the rescue. She put those monsterous abs to use in on the last page. No matter how it turns out, this will probably effect Souichiro in some major way. Either Makiko will have the power to bring her son out or her defeat/death will awaken the real Souichiro.
