Thread: Do you think Bunshichi is dead?

I just have to tell you tenjou tenge is one of the most amazing Fighting mangas/anime that i have ever read, im simpli in love with the all the characters (the girls over all), and the male ones are simply incredibly honest, no fakes, they are all fighting for what they belive in, but over all i liked Bunshichi, he was the only one that allways was in control, and after i read the 114 chapter i really dont know what to think, did he went to the takayanagi state just to get killed? , after Mitsuomi tried to break his back he stops his punch and lets himself get mudered?, I dont know but, is it just me or this contradicts everything he has standed for in the whole series?, he is always talking about his "rose-colored high-school life", and i dont think he will just get killed after being so stubborn about it, what really worries me is if this is just the "bad-guy-kills-cool-guy-so-everyone-hates-him" kind of stunt, so when souchirou/masataka/john doe kills him everyone can make their victory dance and be happy.
Granted, we have seen before characters almost dead in this manga, some of them actually getting choped to pieces just to come back in the next page/chapter, but the situation is that this is about to end, i dont know if this is the final Arc of Tenjou Tenge, but it seems like it, and killing a great character just in the climax of a great history is a tendency i have saw in the last years (Gold age Super-man at the end of DC's Infinite Crisis , and more recently Cap America at the end of Marvel's Civil War), so i want to ask you guys what do you thing of this, Is Bunshichi dead? and Are you happy that creators kill great characters just to make the history more dramatic?
I just have to tell you, i hated it when Square killed Aerith (i had her freaking final limit, YES HER FREAKING FINAL LIMIT!), i hated when DC killed Grandpa-Supes and i hated when The Cap died, and ill be really pissed at Oh! Great! if he killed Bunshichi.

Nah. But seriously, you sound like an immature child. As Aristoteles intended it when he wrote down his standards for plays and art in his "Poetics", the art that is theater, poems and all that kinda stuff must reflect reality. And in reality, aforementioned things will happen to you, which you won't like, but will make you stronger.

In short: Bad things have to happen cus htat be part of life.

Well, as a matter of fact i do understand that bad things happen on life, but that doesnt mean that you have to like when bad things happen, if i'm certainly mad about the fact that one of my favorite characters on series is killed, i'm sorry, i'm just human and because i got pissed about something like it doesnt have anything to do if i'm mature or not, i even could say that is the first time that some i'm being judged as "inmature" just because i gave mi opinion, and even though that is completely subjective, the two questions i writed down i did in the most objective way i found, so i expected the answers to be directed at the theme i was bringing up (the fact if bunshichi is dead or not, and if you are happy about great characters being killed in the climax of a history just to make the evil guy more evil). So i'll just expect the next part of your answer.

I have to admit that i wrote that reply without much thought, i was just wobbling around in my own philosophical stonerthoughts, and the mere mentioning of FFVII and final limit, and the 2 other things about good guys dying, just made a warning light flash in my head (IMMATURE IMMATURE IMMATURE), or something like that. But nice that you really try to explain that you're not immature in a calm, neutral matter.

I dont think bunshichi's dead. I think he's definitely do for a hospital stay but i dont think he's dead, I dont care who throws it, theres no way bunshichi is going to be killed by a punch. I do like the fact that bunshichi is the one who always fights the people who are supposed to be the "strongest"(even though he just keeping his friends in check) I think hes going to be on injured reserve until sohaku rips himself out of souichirou but i dont think hes dead

Let him die. He's one of my favorite characters, but it makes for good plot device. If he was just stuck in a hospital for the rest of his life, it wouldn't have that much of an effect as him travelling the River Styx.

i think it was clear that bunshichi is dead. what makes us think that he is still alive?

I hope Bunshichi isn't dead cos he's the comic relief the series needs. He's cool about anything, is in control, is mysterious in how the hell he can stand up to any fighter anytime without seemingly being destined for great things.

DEAD. Sacrificed himself to wake Masaka(is that how you spell it) up. He was a great character but I think that he saw that Masaka had the potential to be greater than him and achieve what he wanted at Todou.

Well I can´t fully agree with you , cuz he himself said a life in a hospital bead is still better then no life at all, so he would make his own words become reality and would therefor kinda be the winner......only kinda.

About the question if killing off characters brings good storydevelopement:
In this case NO! I thought it was completely useless for the storyline and it just kinda pissed me off. Bushinchi was my favourite character and I couldn´t find an intelligent explanation why he should have died. I rely hope he´s alive.
A good example of killing important chars would be now in D. Greyman when Cross becomes asassinated and I guess killing Jiraya in Naruto was O.K for the plot (even though it was so predictable).
