Let's compare the two.
Tenjho Tenge -> Great art, no story whatsoever. Don't even try to tell me there's a story. You're delusional if you think there actually is one. It's all art and titties.
Yu Yu Hakusho -> Mediocre art, good story.
YYH >>> TenTen
Tada!
I'm gonna tell you there's a story, so I'm delusional and block your ears.
TT didn't have a story in the beginning. Yup, it was just your regular shonen characters that beat up people for nothing and want to get stronger. I personally thought it sucked, but I had patience for these things and read on (if the story sucks and even though the art is great I still quit reading) and OG introduced a family feud. A complex one that roots all the way from the ancient times. And then there is the weird love thing going on that is manipulated by OG...and TT introduced a struggle like never before for me. It's between the enforcement group and a small gang of martial artists, white feather vs. red feather, the world vs. souhaku, and the hundred year war. and OG sometimes brings unexpected surprises and plot twist.
I've quit reading YuYu Hakusho after about volume 8 or so because of the whole tournament thing. Seemed too much like Dragonball >.<
