It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what's going on in the manga:
- Souichirou is from Demon exorcist family(nagi), one of the red feather families. His demon exorcist blood come from his mother, Nagi Makiko. His father is Souhakou Kago, a powerful buddha priest who's also from one of the red feather families. When a demon exorcist opens his or her dragon gate, his hair turns all black. A demon exorcist is capable of becoming a dragon of the earth which channels through the earth or a dragon of heaven which channels to the sky or air.
-Natsume Aya and Maya are from the Natsume family, which is also one of the red feathers families. Only Aya and her late brother possess red feather power(dragon gate). Maya has none which is why she was chosen by the father to guard the Reiki.
-Takayanagi mitsumi and Matsutaka are from the takayanagi family, a white feather family, meaning with no red feather power. also the Takayanagi family is the head of the 12 families.
-The white feather families actually fear and despise the red feathers because they have powers and the white feathers families don't. This is why Mitsumi's father was trying to create the perfect warrior, a warrior who's able to kill any demon without becoming a demon. he used the natsume's older brother as an experiment to make Mitsumi become the true warrior but his plan failed. My guess is he will try with Masataka next.
-Bob is a foreigner and his Souchirou's best friend.
-Souhaku's plan is to merge all the red feather blood into one. And that is only possible with the demon exorcists who have the power to absorb other dragons(red feather powers) and make them their own.We saw that happening when Souichirou absorbed Isshiyumi Tessen's water dragon(vol 9), Tsumuji Mataza's dragon claw(vol10) and some girl, Shidzuru Kamura set up by Souhakou.When Mitsumi supposedly killed him, it triggered his plan, where we see Souichirou in the middle and a couple of what looks like to be corpse containing red feather blood, when they are all absorbed by Nagi, i believe he will have all of the red feather powers which will make Nagi a True demon which Souhakou believe is what the True Warrior is.
-Right now, we are seeing a flashback about how the war came to a stop. We are seeing Ichiyou(nagi's ancestor, 9 years old), Aya(natsume aya's ancestor, 9 years old, she only looks grown because she is controlling her Ki which permits her to look like that.) and two other dudes trying to attack the Osaka Castle and stop Souhakou which costs Aya's life because Souhakou keeps the magatama shrine maiden around him who can nullify all red feather powers with her dragon gate(red feather power).
