    Its been a few years since i had dial-up
    but for some reason that number sounds right on a 56k modem.

    4-5kbps isn't normal. 4-5KBps is normal.

    5.6KBps (stable speed)

    or ranging from

    4.5-6.0KBps

    Yes. Only, you're pretty lucky if you get those speeds all the time. I hate DSL. Unless I was the only one in the city using the service.

    i guess in 512k ADSL

    128kbps is the normal one

    DSL around 64kbps

    t1 around 250-350kbps

    t3 around 1mbps

    512 Kilobits per second = 512/8 Kilobytes persecond = 64 Kilobytes per second. Usually, there is loss in bandwidth. 60 Kilobytes per second is the normal downloading speed for a 512kbps DSL connection.

    yes, 5-6 kbs on dial-up is perfectly normal, if not on the fast side (when I had dial-up i had 3-5kbs). I have a very odd 1.5mbs DSL (this is what the company said) and my download rate is 250kbs and upload (the fastest ive seen while using bittorent) 44kbs.
