Anyway, that's my little input for anyone trying to use those codecs. Sorry if it's a bit off topic.
Umm you guys do read the instructions that tell you to un-instal your old codecs b4 installing the codec packs right? Youre not supposed to install codec packs over your existing ones cus they screw the settings over and cause conflicts.

Akuki - what subbers series you going with? if it's Lunar then they've also borught out some h262 encodes as well, so that might explain it.

I've been trying to watch the latest episodes from Bleach-Society. The problem only started happening about episode 48 or so, so maybe they switched formats then. Lunar works on my computer, but they are always a couple weeks behind the other groups.
What happens is that I will go to the file which is listed with a quicktime icon, and then when I click on it it comes up in a window with a small white screen.

I have a suggestion to add to the list....the w32codecs. This is a pack the supports most all of the codecs that are normally associated with windows and helps them be run on a linxu system (like ubuntu, i have a lot of problems with playing media on ubuntu.)

Well I found out how to fix my problem. IF you download VLC player for mac, then it will play virtually any file that quicktime won't.

quick question about the vlc player does anyone know if it will interfere with any of the other players (known issues)?
i've got the settings for my wmp, tcmp, realplayer, divx player and quicktime player just right to play certain files and i don't want to have to mess these settings up when i install the vlc player.

If you got these players playing files well enough, why are you even installing VCL?

I don't know of any issues, run a google search for some. I doubt it though. One program will not mess with the settings of another generaly, so you shouldn't need to worry. Programs will, however mess with the settings of Windows, namely here you want to watch out for file associations. When installing the player, watch out for this. It will say something like associate the following with VCL, and then list .wmp, .rb, . avi, .mpg, etc. Don't check any of these that you have associated with another player, and you should be fine.

In fact, if you are so attached to these other players, then I suggest you associate no files with VCL, and just run it, and go to file open when you want to use it. Makes life easier.

thanks for that info vol. i wanted vlc player because i do not have the H.264 and i don't want to have to uninstall my codec because i did not keep track of the codecs pack and individual codecs i have installed on my pc. as vlc can play H.264 files then it means that i don't have to install H.264 capable codecs.

Uhh... should. I think it will just use the standard installed windows codecs to play them. May have a problem with wma though... I'm thinking that needed a direct show filter for some reason. I can't really remember.

Mplayer is very good though. Use it on my Linux box. Has some nice features for the bold and experienced as well for doing some video related tasks. A nice player and a nice tool all in one (for some things anyway).
