If your happy with it, then go for it. Real Player is far to intrusive for me. If I had to go with it, I would probably look into the Real Player Alturnative instead (there is a quicktime alturnative as well, but I here that the codecs for that are having some problems lately). I don't appreciate the thing allways wanting to connect to the internet for something or another, or it wanting so much information from me. Its a damn media player. I'd actually rather use Windows Media Player, but to each his own.

The above players offer a lot more control as well, so if you ever want to try something else, then I recomend one of the players on CN's list (especially MPC or MPlayer). I think your fighting an uphill battle if you want to see Real Player on the list though.

For OGM and MKV (assume that is what you ment), you need a splitter first (direct vob and Halli I think are common... look in most of the codec packs that CN has posted). After you have the splitter, then the players should open the files somwhat.

If you use MPC, then right click the frame, and got to properties. In there it will tell you the video and sound types used in the file (MKV and OGM are called contianer files, because they 'contain' the elements of the media). Once you know the type of video file and sound file inside the containter file, then you just need to get the codecs for them. Sense its MKV and OGM, I'm guessing that you need to install the Ogg Vorbis codec on your machine to get sound. FLAC or Monkey is another choice.

Something else you may want to look into, of which comes with the K-Lite codec pack, is G-spot codec detector and diagnoser. This will tell you what it needs, and what files are running what aspect of the file.

Yeah, that's so true. Not so long ago, I had real alternative's latest codec pack, but it can't play Full Metal Alchemist Movie, so I had to install Combined Community Codec Pack for it. Now, my Windows Movie Player can't play files it used to play, but my Media Player Classic is not affected.
Anyway, that's my little input for anyone trying to use those codecs. Sorry if it's a bit off topic.

Do you guys know what some good codec or media player for mac's are? I have been using a divx codec, but I can't watch some of the newer bleach episodes I downaded, and they just come up as blank screens.
