Default Games wont play anymore, wtf?

I do not know if this has anything to do with my previosly posted memory issue, but I own 4 computer games. All of them USED to work. Now the only one that does is Doom. The origional Doom. One there is audio but no video, and the other two just have pop-ups that tell me I do not have something that i never knew existed in the first place (ie 3D Accelerator, Ivor?). Basically, wtf?

A 3dAcelerator is the GPU (Graphics Processor Unit) on your video card. Basicly, your video card, or the video layer of windows is not working (at least that is what it sounds like).

First thing I would try is to update or reinstall your video drivers. Second thing would be to update or reinstall directX. I doubt that your video card took a shit, so it is probably one of these two things.

Go to control pannel, system, hardware, device manager, and then ti your video card to see the driver status. If there is a red X or yellow ! there, then you definatly have problems. If not... try reinstalling the drivers anyway. Right click on the name of your vid card, and select properties. In here you will see options to mess with the driver, but that may not be the best procedure. I suggest going to the website of the video card manufacturer, finding and downloading the latest driver for you card, and following the istructions on the website for installation, or instructions that came with the file, either in a text file or in the exicutible setup.

Good luck. Video cards can be a pain in the ass. Seems like their drivers can get corrupted easily (this seem especially true if you have an ATI).

try going into run and then type "dxdiag" and then go into the "display" tab and test both the directdraw and the direct3d...if they work great...if they don't....
