Would this site let you use a program where as soon as one file has finished DL'ing it lets you DL another? I mean my friends from China said there are such programs? *Could anyone tell me any English ones?* Would this site let me use them?
Ok let me explain better....
I was wondering if there is a program to download each chapter for me, rather than having to click each one and go "Save to" and then unzipping it, is there a way to set it to download each one and then when I wake up in the morning all 200 chapters will be there waiting for me to unzip them? Would this site allow it, or is it against the rules? Any help would be much welcome! (=^_______^=)
Never had to use programs that queue up multiple downloads but if you google "download manager with queue" (or variants) you'll get programs such as Wackget and File Fetch. You drag the links you want into a queue list and off you go. However I think this borders on leeching, and on this site there's also a time delay between downloads (by checking IPs) so I'm not sure how that would work. Maybe give one of the mods or the admin a pm. Or maybe wait for a better response :P
I mean how doies everyone else download it, as I use internet explorer 6 I just click the link then go save as and save the zip file to my documents and then when it's downloaded I click to open the file and then unzip it to windows, and I mean thats all good for downloading new chapters but when I'm trying to catch up on 140 chapaters of BLEACH e.t.c....It's not good... or do I just have to live with that?
Maybe I could get a file DL program, and then can you set a delay on it? so it will only download so many files every min? Mhhhhh?
Its kind of an iffy subject. From what I can tell, the bottom line seems to be that this site doesn't want you to use DL managers. To be honest, I used to use one on here, but I stoped after reading some of the threads (even though I set the DL manager to act like a normal downloader by making only one connection per download and one download at a time).
If you want a nice windows download manager, look into Free Download Manager (FDM). This has a lot of options (such as making download groups, which means when you DL a file, it will ask what group you want it DL'ed under, and you can set different groups to store their files in different folders, such as having a folder for video and one for manga) and works with the flashgot extention for firefox. Just don't use it here, I guess (with all the script updates, I don't even think it works anymore... haven't tried it in a while).
DL managers can do some really nice things, but a lot of the time they put additional stress on servers. If you need to catch up in a series, here is what I suggest:
Go to the Download Request section and take a look at Martyr's badass list of manga sites. If you use Firefox type the name of the series you want to activate the Firefox page search, and find a few sites with the series you are looking for (something as popular as bleach will find you quite a few). Open up a few different sites, and download a little from each of them (download manager or no). With the all the DLs going at once, you should catch up really fast, and save this and the other sites you could find stuff at a little bandwidth.
Sounds like a good solution anyway. Maybe my thinking is wrong on this. I never could figgure out exactly what was putting too much stress on a server and bandwidth and what was normal.
Yeh I don't think it would be fair to put such stress on the site but thanks for the idea (^_^) and i will use DL manager on those. DANKE! My other question, is why when I download a file off some mirrors *cough* BLEACH mirror 4* Cough* it says there are no files in it inless I SAVE the winzip file to my HD?
As opposed to opening the file directly after download you mean? I don't know. That sounds like a question for the writers of a download script.
It is usually a better idea to save the files first anyway. This way you can scan them for viruses and such easier. Not that I don't trust this site... its just that I don't trust anyone. Considering this site has some enimies, I'd rather not take the chance.
