Thread: Vista won't load past the welcome screen

As the title says after I type my password it would only load up to the Welcome screen.
I had previously had done nothing, nothing at all to disturb the performance of my Laptop (btw my Laptop is an HP Presario V6700 Notebook PC). I was using it early in the day yesterday and put it on hibernate until I used it again late in the day which was when I turned it off. The after this I turned on my laptop only to find it frozen on the welcome screen. In one of the times I booted my laptop it promted to some kind of registry cleaning protocol, something about NTFC (I'm not that sure) and went on to delete some files (prior to this I still couldn't log on). The only way I can access my laptop is through safemode, which I'm using right now for backing up my files.

Is there any way to save this PC?

Don't know man. do not use Windows Vista anymore. If i'd rather use a new OS at the beta stage then that got to tell you how i feel about vista.

Try runnin' Windows restore.

Vista is fine. It has its issues, but bashing Vista is is April 2008.

If you have already backed up your files, then you won't mind formatting, that's probably best.

If you want to try other things first, then try booting from Vista's Setup disk and try the repair tools from there.

Tried System Restore?

Run chkdsk while you're at it as well.

Restored.
