Thread: Ac3 audio, crapy stereo headphone?

So happily you go and download a 5.1 ac3 video file..

And then you go play it..

ffdshow icon doesn't show up.. ok, but I can "hear" the audio..
screw that..

but then when the thing really starts, I notice that half of the sound is on the right other on the left.. and most of the "background" is on both..

But the most important the voices are on the left side.. only!!!

So I went to see who was decoding my audio "intervideo audio"..

Ok, so I went and grabbed the latest AC3Filter version out there.
Now its properlly chanelling thru ac3filter, but the problem persist.


Other files, I can get the sound "ok" but this one and a hand full I get this problem, is there anything special that I should do?

The other that play ok, I can hear all sounds on both headphones, BUT left side is louder.. that well again its anoying (I've also thought could be I lost some of hearing on the left side, but no, same thing, swaping left to right I still hear louder on one side then the other.. I compensate this by trowing about 19% more of the sound to the right, so its fine I guess..

AC3 video file? I'll just assume that what I think you meant is right... Are you using any codec packs? What player are you using? Since you're using these on headphones, have you tried going into ffdshowAudio -> Mixer -> downmix to 2.0 stereo or whatever it is? Have you tried listening to this file on speakers/other headphones?

Went and reinstalled ffdshow tryouts, but with a cvs version from 03/10/2009

It was mostly because everything was a mess on my codecs..

First it was merited to "Intervideo Audio"
Then to "AC3Filter"
Then to "Adobe MPEG Audio2"


Seems to be "Working" for now... going to do some testing with some more ac3 and aac files that I have
