I just brought a new laptop. It comes with Windows Vista. Are there any programs or issues I should look out for?

Turn off all the widgets, if you have an acer get rid of all the crappy acer apps. Just generally get rid of all the useless crap.

In my experience the biggest 2 issues you will encounter are:
1. You are using a laptop, desktops are better.
2. You are using windows vista, the most evil OS the world has yet seen. Get Ubuntu, dual boot it with XP if you want.
My gawd, lol!
Anyway..
The only issue Windows Vista has, is their users.
Besides that, you might want get yourself a flash drive for readyboost.
You should disable some useless crap that comes enabled, and most likely remove all of the company bundled software(Acer support, Dell support.. etc)
As much as annoying UAC is, never disable it.

I think you just right click the widget bar and untick the appear on startup button (I can't actually remember, I haven't done it in ages and I lent my vista laptop to my brother). As for the pre-installed crap, You can probably get rid of most of it through "add/remove programs" in control panel. Just make sure you only delete stuff that you don't actually need (don't touch any drivers, on;ly delete stuff if you know what it is).

Thanks 98, I just getting used to Vista. The thing I don't like, for me it seems. Vista likes to hide it's programs. The only real issue I have had is IE, so I download FF. Thanks guys.
