Thread: How to Connect to Yahoo messenger?

I've recently downloaded and installed Y!M 8 and 9(both because 9 is still beta).
After installation,I try to log in but all I got is this message:
"Connection error, please try again(81003004)".
Then I tried login to my mail and it still worked fine.
my internet connection is dsl btw.
oh and I downloaded the full installer,not the installer from yahoo.com that will DL the installer again.

I avoid Yahoo services altogether, but since nobody has asked whether you've tried the obvious, I will: Are you using firewall software on your computer, and if so have you allowed the new software through the firewall?

There doesn't appear to be a solution to this available on-line from a brief perusal of google. Someone at Yahoo! Answers suggested calling Yahoo! support:

I prefer a single client to access all the IM services at once, so I use Pidgin (linux), Trillian (Windows), and Adium (Mac). These let you log into AIM, ICQ, Yahoo!, MSN, and Jabber from one piece of software.
