How effective is AVG ver8.0 free edition

What i know about this version is that it combines it's Antivirus scans with Ewido Antispyware scanning features but does it means it mores better?

I'm not gonna uninstall both my AVG 7.5 & AVG Anti spyware unless i know it's more effective plus i like my AVG Anti spyware 4 its special permanent file deletion

Well... Since it's free, why not try it on? You can uninstall ver8 and reinstall ver7 if you don't like it, if you've still got the installer for ver7.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of AVG, so yeah.. I personally use avast!, but I think it doesn't have any antispyware functions. Well, I don't usually use antispyware anyway. Never got any spywares yet! XD

[Review on PCMagazine] 4/5 - but it says that AVG 8 leaves a lot of registry keys created by the malware behind. This can be a source of performance degradation.
Edit: OK just to be fair, after reading further, avast! does it too. It looks like SpywareDoctor is doing a good job at it though..

AVG stopped updates for AVG 7.5 & AVG Anti Spyware so i have 2 options:

1. Download the new version of AVG 8.0 which has AVG Anti Spyware built within but has some problems according to some reports by users.

2. Download Avira which is faster & now has Spyware detection in their new version but has a nagging problem to ask users to get the paid version.

So which one should i use? Please post your answer.

I would like to see more information on the latest review of AVG. I tend to buy my Anti Virus once a year, and I hate the nag screens they leave behind when you don't upgrade them. Especially Symatech. You don't have the option to close the control center by right clicking its icon when it prevents an installation.

Whats the most user friendly AV out there right now?

i think avira is the best because it found all kinds of trojans that avg couldnt detect. also avg gives me a set of false positives when im scanning my hdd.

to brad flow : although avira constantly nags u to get the paid version it really doesnt matter since u are already getting it free. my choice would be avira since it doesnt give me any problems and it doesnt hog my memory like norton 2007
