Post Spyware Doctor: Old Full ver VS New cut-down ver

I had an old copy of Spyware Doctor version 3.3 on my PC all my life & i never updated it because i have to 2 pay to do that until i found this list at techsupportalert.com which told me about a cut-down version of Spyware Doctor.

Whats the difference between the 2 & should i uninstall my old SD with the new one?

Thanks 4 any help you can give me.

I paid for my Spyware Doctor too, but I only bought it a year ago so I think it's a new version. I love it, my computer was horrible and super slow before, now my computer runs smooth.

I'm not familiar with Spyware Doctor but if it had to be one or the other, I would go with the newer one and then add other free software.

Spyware evolves continuously. If its spyware definitions database isn't being updated anymore then it definitely needs to go. And even with updates your old full version probably isn't as effective as it once was. What is it, like 3 years old?

I found a chart that says what's missing from this "cut-down" version of Spyware Doctor (Starter Edition) you're talking about:
Free Spyware Doctor Starter Edition for Google Pack
(You can download it without going through google here:
Spyware Doctor Starter Edition - Reviews and free Spyware Doctor Starter Edition downloads at Download.com

The Starter Edition is missing quite a lot from the "always on" protections, so basically what's left is an on-demand spyware scanner. You can substitute other free software to make up for what's missing.

    Question Results

I finally install the new free version of Spyware Doctor. I was able to find new spyware that was hidden in my Harddrive except one thing though. Before i install i use my old version of SD to scan 4 spyware to find only one & that was Elitepopupmedia64 but when i use my old version it didn't detected it. Should i be worried or let it be?

Huh? What do you mean? If SD found it, then remove it!

    (it = adware/spyware)

Sorry, i forgot to check the words. What i meant was my old version 3.3 was able to detect elitepopmedia64 some spyware or trojan but my new version the 5.5 Stater version didn't detect it!
