Hey guys, Im sure many of you know what fraps is. I have a question, how can I prevent it from lagging? I have a pretty good laptop. i used fraps on nhl 2008 and it works fine, but for some reason when I try to use it on fifa 2005, it lags like crazy. iv tried everything, iv tried putting it to half size, and putting the fps at 20 but it still lags on this game, anyone have a solution? thanks

It... err... what's lagging? The game or the video when you play it back?

It could be that just the playback is lagging. It says on the FRAPS site that it is recommended that you re-encode the video before playback, as there is not enough time or overhead to encode on the fly (so your looking at an uncompressed video when you play it back). Use VirtualDubMod to re-encode the video and choose XVid so you can slap it right back into a AVI (maaaaybe need to set the audio to encode into MP3 as well, I don't know what FRAPS outputs audio as).

Umm... if your already doing that or if your having lag on the game, theeeeen maybe you... no... I don't know. Need a FRAPS expert.

Should probably list your system specs too just so we can be sure (and by we, I mean people other than me that have actually used that program).

Video drivers overriding settings for FIFA, and thus conflicting with FRAPS.
Force every video setting in video control panel (CCC/Forceware) to something that's simple (no AA/AF overrides, etc).
    That's what I think anyway.

I changed all the settings to Low, and put it on the lowest resolution, but it still lags. It makes no sense.

Try using gamecam or taksi if fraps is being laggy..

Also try NOT to compress the video while you record, newer fraps let you record directly compressed to divx for example.. thats a big strain on the computer, just record it uncompressed and then you compress it later..

Yes it does take a chunck of your HD.

I cannot use gamecam cause I have vista, it is not yet compatible with vista. well i have fraps 2.9.1, the new version is 2.9.3. for example when I recorded a 8 min play of NHL 08, the file came out to 2.2 GB. thats not compressing it so not sure what your trying to say by dont let it compress while its recording.
