What can I do about this?
Windows XP on FAT32?
The ONLY thing you can do is format your hard disk drive using the NTFS file system. So, either backup everything you have and get formatting, or just format one of your secondary drives as NTFS so you can save that file somewhere (this is only a temporary solution, nobody should be using FAT32 in this day and age, there is no reason to considering that NTFS is better in pretty much every possible way).
uh no. ^You do not need to format the drive for a file system conversion.
You simply need to use the command line and convert with this command:
convert whateverdrive: /fs:ntfs
After that, reboot the computer and you're on NTFS.
The only thing against NTFS now would be OSX (by default at least, I'm guessing there are some drivers out there that would enable OSX to write to NTFS partitions). I stupidly brought along my assignment in my thumbdrive (yes I formatted it to use NTFS) to an OSX com lab only to find I can't operate on any of the files (which means I need to save it to the OSX disk).
Writing support on NTFS partition with Linux has been supported for a long time now, so it's stupid to use a shitty FAT32 partition in the middle :P
If you don't want to write on a NTFS partition from Linux, you can put your files on your ext3 partitions and install a software in windows allowing it to read and write onto them too...
Back on topic, SD's rar is more than 4GB so he must use NTFS already ==> @SD : are you trying to extract it on a FAT32 partition ?
There are several softwares which can unrar files, so if it is winrar which is acting dumb, test with another one..
nevermind... how the hell do u delete posts
I've no idea how to do anything suggested above. At all.
I tried it on my PC since I figured the error was because my C drive on my laptop is full to the brim but now wtf. Youll notice that my F drive (where the file is) has 99 gigs free, my C drive here has 68 gigs free. So wtf is this shortage of memory?!!?!
lol more FAT32
This isn't just epic, this is legendary.
