    Default comp problem D:

Okay I ordered new parts and got them today. I got new ram, new video card, new case. I put everything from my old case into my new one and put everything together. The problem is with my cd/dvd drive. In IDE 1, windows doesn't start up properly and pretty much the same with IDE 2. and if IDE 2 works....it doe not read CD/DVDS. Anyone know how to fix?

Well first off, I like to put the CD-ROM on IDE channel 2.

So all that's left to me is to check and make sure the jumper is set to master on the HD and on the CD-ROM.

Beyond that, don't rely on Windows. Make sure the BIOS sees it.

In windows, check device manager for issues. Also, go to the ATA controller properties and make sure that both channels are running in DMA mode.

Other than that... you can try cleaning your drive... not sure. Need more info.

problem fixed, one of the prongs in the cd/dvd drive was pushed in. I got some pliers and pulled out the prong to the same level as the other ones. Risky but got it done
