Changing Region Code Help
I'm trying to rip a region 2 dvd, but I can't decrypt it. I realized that my region code hadn't been set, but every time I try to change it, I get an error and I'm not sure what to do to fix it.
Can you play a region 2 DVD?
Backing up your DVD collection is a bit of a chore. You have to use special programs to break the encryption that the publisher has placed on the disk. A very famous program for this task is now outdated, and you must use newer software for newer disks (especially sony disks). I'm not certain I want to disclose methods to do this to you, since you never stated where you got the DVD from (there's only a few words you have to say to me... hint hint )... so all I can say is use google for now.
However, to set the DVD region, you just go to System Properties (via the XP control panel), and click the hardware tab. Then click on Device Manager. From there select the DVD drive. Right click and go to properties. From there, click the DVD region tab, and set your new region.
Be aware, you only get a certain number of changes. This limit is recorded in the Firmware of the drive, so changes are no more once you hit that change limit (officially anyway).
