    Default Windows Vista Question

I am currently using Windows Vista Ultimate x64 right now. My PC specs are and Athlon64 X2 2.6ghz and 7600GT nvidia 256mb with a 1gb ram. I am thinking about down grading to Windows Home Premium. Is this a good idea? Because my RAM doesn't meet to the Vista ultimate standards. Opinions?

What's the difference between Ultimate and Home Premium?
    I'm asking you.

To tell you the truth I really do not know. Just wanted to test if I would lag on Home Premium.

Home premium, Support to only one physical CPU, up to 16gb of memory.
Premium.. support two physical CPUS, and 128+ GB of memory(... lol I got 512mb..)

Plus premium have alot of extras to deal with security encryption. Plus it has alot of SA-only benefits like multiple virtual machines, access to Virtual PC Express, and activation via VLK.

That seriously I doubt a normal end-user will need.

But in the end, thoses features don't add much to the "lag"..

If you computer can't handle well enterprise, it sure won't home.. that has even less hardware support.

Hmm I see. Well for me I like to hope between OS's just to either test them out or some other stuff.

... my opinion is to just upgrade your ram.

You have a X2, a 256MB graphic card, and a gig of ram... that really should be plenty, but if your not feeling it, just go buy a couple of gig sticks and drop them in. You should be able to do it for less than 80 bucks. If you don't have gamer/overclocker ram... who cares? It's certainly better than takeing less features than you already have.

In the meantime, turn aero off... that might help some (should free up a hunk of ram, anyway).

Okay, so what makes you think that Home Premium would be faster on your computer?

I know TONS of GAMERS who run Vista Ultimate and play games even more than I do with 1GB of RAM.

    Wait.. what?
Even my old 3.0GHz P4 HT, X300 128MB, 1GB runs vista (Ultimate and Business) well and plays game (C&C3).
