uhh... got a USB key? Look up Portable Apps.

Specifically Portable Firefox (formerly Firefox In A Box).

Just download VLC player, it's small, doesn't require any codecs and it will play virtually ANYTHING. I'm sure it doesn't even need to be installed, just a copy of the install directory on a USB disk or a CD should work, if I remember correctly.

What happens when you try to install a codec pack? Are executables not allowed to be opened? Are there insufficient permissions? Anyways, going with the post above... just use VLC .

VLC is pretty craptacular in my opinion... there's a reason so many suggest CCCP.

However, since you can't do that... you could take the unix solution and go with Mplayer. There's a version for flashdrives you can get from portableapps.com.

If you need soft subs, run a search for Mplayer. I'm sure I've explained how to do it here before.

CCCP ruined my computer. But then again my computer acted funny even before I installed it and then tried to remove it oh so long ago. I'd go with mplayer. So far I've gotten that thing to play everything but dvd's. But I got a question. What are you guys doing watching illegal subs in your schools anime club for. Your teachers must not know anything.

Are Japs even allowed to sue you for watching subs?

And CCCP doesn't ruin computers... it sends computer that should be ruined to the shithole.

I don't know about permissions, but you can, like everyone's said before, install VLC onto some kinda flash drive and run it off that.

If you really wanted to watch subs, though, why not bring in a laptop/dektop with TV output and keep it next to the TV.

I only use VLC as a "backup" media player, if I ever find something that Media Player Classic won't play properly, but I've never found a problem with VLC before. What makes it so "craptacular"?

    1 - Carefull.. thats a derogatory term
2 - They aren't, but VIZ, etc etc are.. if they bought the licence, and you have he fansub, they can. There is a case of a boy that was arrested for downloading fansubs.

    Option 1:
You have access to internet on the computer and full install access..
Download a codec pack, k-little, CCCP.. either, not both..

    2)
    No internet, but install access
Get a flash/cd burn the thing and install..

    3)
    No internet, no install
Your only hope is to like Volvogga said, make a bootable flash/cd

    If you don't like/know LINUX/UNIX
There is a solution, BartPE BartPE Cd builder tool <Seems down atm)

To be able to play you need MPlayer+frontend

    1. Is it really? If it is... I can't see it that way what with the words "chink", the n-bomb, and "cracker" out and about. (first and last <<<<<< second... never use the second).
    2) Well, yeah, I know it can happen if it's licensed... I thought you meant unlicensed subs.

Seriously, the TV out idea I had might work the best because then you can install whatever the hell you want. CCCP, VLC, K-lite... run all 3 and watch 3 windows on 1 comp if your comp can handle it. God knows ONE kid in that club is going to have a decent laptop... they have to.
