the problem right now is that i accidentally dropped my HD (i'm kinda clumsy okay) and later when i connect it to a computer, it not connecting... is it possible to repair the HD? will the data stored inside damaged?
Well.. if you're lucky, it's just the external case of the hdd that's broken a few leads, but if you're unlucky, then better say goodbye to your hdd....
To check if this is the case, take the hdd out of the enclosure (this isn't hard, don't worry. Just make sure you don't force anything out. The power connector might be a bit hard to pull out. Don't just yank it). Try to get another enclosure, and see if the hdd works with it, or connect the hdd straight to a com (if it's a desktop 3.5" hdd).
My friend had the same problem, and fortunately it's just the enclosure. So I just got him another enclosure.
i test it with my other enclosure.....it does not working... damn, i hate to admit my hdd is broken.... is there possibility to repair it? or at least to access it temporarily to transfer all data stored inside? pls give me at least little hope
Does it spin up? What's it do? If it spins up, you might be able to use some kind of boot up Hard disk utility (something like Partition Magic, for example, or maybe something off of the Ultimate Boot CD) to look and see if you can't transfer the data to your existing HD (you might need to have the HD actiually IN your computer, not another enclosure). If that's the case it would just mean your file system is a bit damaged. Just get what you can, and re-format. If it doesn't spin up... well if you know something about electronics you might be able to fix it. No clue what to tell you to look for, could be ANYTHING. If not, only thing you can do is send it into a lab where they can take it into a clean room, open it up, take out the platters and extract the information from it. This... can get kinda pricey though. :P
thanks to Silverwmoon!
well, i think i could hear the hdd spin, but there is no icon show in the My Computer. i will try to get Partition Magic first..
Does it show up under disk manager? (Start > run > diskmgmt.msc). See if you can see it under that. If not, then it's off to other software (as vol~ said above).
nope... i cannot see it. i will check with other software
the result is.... negative!! noo...
