    Default Everything in slow motion

Everything is in slow motion.......I can't take it anymore.I have just bought a new computer a month ago. Then when my brother came back, and after he left, the computer becomes so slow.It took me a around 60 seconds to open a file or internet explorer. It used to take me a few seconds. And shutting down has now become slow too. What's wrong? Why is it so slow?Virus attack? Can someone explain this to me?This is really frustrating

    Um.. standard set:
    - Virus / Malware Scan.
    - Startup programs (Start, run..., msconfig.exe - look at the startup tab)
    - Get someone good to look at your registry. This is a frustrating task, but it's pretty much worth doing in some cases.
    - System Restore - but be careful, as there might be malicious programs within the restore checkpoint.

if it doesn't work or you don't want to spend too much time on it, just erase everything (after saving the things you want to keep of course) and re install your OS...
don't forget to disallow your brother from going near your computer

Don't forget to start the computer in safe mode if you try to back-up the stuff you want to keep...sounds like it would take days to back-up anything of importance, otherwise.

    Post screenshot of task manager.
To do this, hit PrtScn, open up paint, paste, save this new file, upload somewhere like imageshack or photobucket, and post here. Just in case you don't know.

P.S. - Are you naming yourself after Sultan Abu Bakar or Johor or Pahang? Or Abu Bakr, the first caliph after Muhammad?

I name myself after Sultan Abu Bakar of Pahang.I am from Pahang after all and study at the school with the same name.

Anyway,i sort of figure out a way to deal with this.I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Delete and end certain process after i found that the CPU usage is 100% all the time.No wonder the computer is so slow.

If you really want to solve the problem, you'll need to scan for malware/adware like previously mentioned... or google up the processes that you end every time to find a way to permamently disable it.

For disabling processes, MSConfig was just updated, but is a little confusing. For a simpler solution, Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel is great.

    thanks to Silverwmoon!
