Well there are otehr ways like using Hijackthis, but you have to know alot about other things to use that program. You can however use AVG Free antivirus and get it from download.com, or get the pro version and use a keygen or something

Well, if you don't want to illegally download a virus program, then AVG I suppose.

You can try avast! too. I think Avast got more protection. No complains for now. Also trying AVS (Active Virus shield). It seems slow during the full scan on my PC though...

BTW, if you need to manual update, I think AVG and Avast is able to do that. Not sure about AVS.

    According to :
    http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/
    and
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,12...1/article.html

It shows that BitDefender is the best anti-virus around. Though I prefer Kaspersky.

So...is 30 bucks worth it? I would say yes. Avast was ranked 8th by both(although one was using the professional version), by the way.

    P.S. - I bet that school's would get a discount as well.

O_o you for real? I could use some of that. Instead of AVG (notice I did not say AVG Free.)

I'm almost 100% certian that you could not use AVG Free in this case. I believe the license says 'free for personal use.' This means that businesses, charities, political parties, and educational institutions do not qualify for the use of this software. However, I'm sure that they would offer a group discount.

Institutions (even non-commercial ones) are not allowed to use avast! Home Edition. However, ALWIL Software provides the full line of avast! antivirus products at special discount prices for non-profit, charity, educational and government institutions. Please see our price lists for details.
    Avast is also out.

Only one I know of that is free for home and business use. I'm pretty sure that educational would be fine as well then, but look closely at the licence when you install it.

Another thing you might look into is see if McAfee doesn't have a rule against the online scanner being used on ever computer in there. Of course, being on a network could cause problems... and probably slowdowns.

My school is pretty stingy when it comes to money *cough* *cough* so you know what will happen if i were to tell the teacher to pay for it and she tell the headmistress...It is a definite no.I understand that it will be better if my school just pay for it but sadly,i am not the one who have the final say.But anyway, thanks for the recommendations.I will be sure to check it out

Well id say that you use Avast.
First of its free and you get a trail at first for 60 days after those days are out you need to register. Dont remember all the stuff you need to whrite to register but its mainly your name and a email adress and after you have done that you will get a mail after a few mins with a cd key thad you just need to enter and you are good to go for another year! When that year is out all you have to do is register again to get a new key. And btw its the Avast Home you want to use becouse thats the only one thats free. And just a side note im using Avast and i hardly get any viruses.
