    Default file lost need recover

    Hello,

I'm in need of restoring a file that is of extreme value to me. The file system is NTFS, OS Windows XP. There is a large array of recovery tools but which one is the most reliable and give most high success rate?

Umm.. for one file, go with whatever you want. You have lots of options, like you said... but they don't have to be free. Many high quality, high reliability corporate solutions will offer you a trial for X days... and you need one day tops. XD

Whatever you want to do, do it fast. The way delete works is that it removes the existence of the data from the file table. The data itself is still physically there... but when you make a new file or edit file size, then the table says 'oop! There's a blank spot there... lets throw the data here'... and there goes the data you want back. So time is of the essence. :P

Want a recommendation... try looking at the Iolo tools.

If you really need a reliable tol you can try Active@ Undelete. It is possible to use it's boot-disk option to bypass system boot, if some system files are corrupted or data is in danger.

If the problem is still there then you can try ARAX Disk Doctor, a very good recovery soft.

In the end, I managed to recover with active undelete utility. it really was able to boot itself and then restore the file required
