    Default Router Isssues [WRT54G]

When I type to log on to the router and try to block some sites, cause my mom found out the power of downloading, so how do I use the block tool?? I went to the Access Restrictions section and tried typing on the Website Blocking by URL Address, but I still can goto the website. The reason why I need to block her download is because of she is stealing constanlly lagging in games and what not.

What a fun router to play with!
Try blocking the IP address instead.
I'll get back on this when I get home. I use a stupid Cisco router at work.

What method is she using to download? she downloading via http server or ftp server, bit torrent, irc... what?

If she's downloading via webserver/ftp then block the server address (or IP)
If she's downloading via bit torrent, figure out what tracker she's on all the time and block it.
As for IRC, thats alot more difficult... prolly the easiest way is to get on her computer and setup irc to block all downloads.

What right do you have to restrict your own Mom's internet access? If her downloading is a problem, just talk to her about it.

ooooooooooooh, this IS a fun router. So many fun things you can do with it. ^^

Actually the best thing for you to do here is not to block the sites, but instead to limit the bandwidth on your mother's computer. Split it...

Problem is I believe this requires you to re-flash the router with new firmware, as it doesn't come standard, but it an after market addition made by a 3rd party. (BEHOLD THE POWER OF A LINUX ROUTER PEOPLE!)

98 has a point though... if your mom pays for it (assuming) she can do whatever the fuck she wants with her connection. You should talk to her about it first.
    Vol~

    thanks to Silverwmoon!
