I see no sig for you... and you should still be able to type out a url even if it doesn't present itself as a hot link... change http to hxxp:\\ if you have to. We can work around that. XD

9/10 huh? How well they work is another matter.

Only real big problems I know of right now is that the sound stack was ripped from the kernel (great idea actually, just bad way of doing it) and rebuilt. Problem now is that no there is 0 hardware acceleration for sound. Creative is pissed. XD

Creative is working on the ALchamy drivers though for Vista. Betas are already up. This translates directsound code calls into OpenAL (the brother to OpenGL graphics), which is primarily being developed by creative labs and Apple now as I understand. So use this, and BING!, you get your EAX rich sound back.

Other problems are of course the DRM shit. If your hardware doesn't support DRM (IE it must provide a protected signal from the hardware to the next piece of hardware and/or output device) Vista just pretty much disables it. Vista's going to tell you to fuck off if you have a S/PDIF output on your soundcard and you want to (god forbid) use it in conjunction with premium content audio. Other such fiascos include that you need a pretty new video card for it to be truly HDCP complient. The first of them nVidia and ATI lied through their teeth on. Even now some of the newest ones still won't work with repeaters. Here's a list (can probably find a better one) that's as close as your going to get for HDCP complient cards.

Note that some claim there are STILL no true HDCP complient cards, and it's still impossible to really play HD content on Vista. Sony had to admit in August that you wouldn't be playing HD with their Blu-Ray drive because there were no cards out that would handle it the way they set HDCP up to be. So... I wouldn't trust any card made before October of last year.

For more on the DRM shit, here's a very good writeup of it.

If none of this is a factor to you or you don't care, continue on.

Other than that... get the Vista Upgrade Advisor from Microsofts website and see what it tells you. If you can't live without the programs it lists and there is no update for them when you check the manufacture's site, then I guess your not upgrading. XD

It's a personal choice. Your going to need it for DX10 eventually. It's supposed to be quite nice when paired with the Xbox360 too. As far as everything else, Jyuu says it's the best system of all time, and I have no doubt that it's the best Windows system (if you can live with such things described above). On the flip side it makes me want to vomit and I will be getting the 20 dollar WinXP 64 bit edition install CD I have recently aquired access to, so that when I do finaly get around to building a new system, I can make it dual boot as I'll still need windows for some things.

That's all the info I got for now. Choice is up to you.

Wow vista eh, personally I think its probably the worst windows OS after ME. I got it a couple of days ago, used it for a couple of days changed to linux, failed to set up my network and now im back with win 2000 again.

I guess that was a lil offtopic but yeah....
