have you ever tried downloading a series like one piece in avi? that would take up 67280 mbs thats what roughly 67gigs? my comp has a 76 gig hard drive im not rich like you happen to be and about 15 gigs go to everquest II alone

also alot of download sites use rmvb , when using places like megaupload to download from

If they were smarter they would use codecs that allow higher compressions in more flexible containers.

... Wow, I'm surprised. I want to bitch slap this guy, and he didn't even snap at me. You feeling ok, Jyuu?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_c...rds_and_codecs

    There.
Now, you got a roughly 80 gig HD? Whoopdy fucking do, so do I. It was a pretty cheep investment for me to go pick up a 250Gig external hard disk. You know what I did before I could afford it? I downloaded about 4 gigs and burned it to a DVD, then dumped it. Even cheeper investment if you watch the sales. Hell, I still do that with stuff I really like. Even a CD will hold 4 or 5 episodes, depending on the encode. Hell, that's what you get if you buy the DVD in the store, and we're talking like 30 cents a disk counting the case.

Honestly, if your looking at portable video players, you really have no reason to be acting like your trying to be thrifty. Go get something that plays real video formats. Real Media is designed primarily for streaming, not this.

snap? hes the one who just jumped in and said i was retarded, so i replied back, and seeing as i don't have the budget to buy an HD, i was wondering if any portable players were out that could use rm that i could try to get for my birthday in a few months i just asked a question and wanted know if anyone knew, not your opinion on file types, personally i love .rmvb when encoded to around 80mb

and i never meant to snap but when the first response you get when asking a question is
"Who the fuck uses Real media formats? That's retarded!"
what else do i do? I don't know him and i don't know if he is always like this since i only post on here occasionally, so how can i not take that in offense?

how do you have the money for a portable video player and not have the money for an EXHDD??? that doesnt make sense.

As I said, Real is only decently used as a stream format. That's why it's stupid. Encoding to rmvb is quick and dirty. Also, as your finding out, it's pretty fucking useless outside your computer. If you want that, might as well go with h.264 video with vorbis sound in a MKV container. At least then it will look and sound amazing.

And if you want to make a point, read it again. In the second post he is clearly not talking about you. It also is mearly assumed by you that he's refering to you in the first post. The format in it's entirety is basicly useless.

Don't want to take the advice, fine. Here's like the one player I found with 3 minutes on google.

Good luck with that. Maybe you can find more if you take a look.
