Default view folders on a website

ok, I have a website and for some reason some people have been looking into my folders with out really paying any attention to my website layout and I don't want that.

    ex:

    http://www.website.com/file/

once they type that they can see all my files and names, how can I stop that?

my server uses apache and supports php4. if there anything you can add up for the properties of the folder?

    i see only a message :
No Website Profile and Forum exist for this website.
    Please search the website again.
but anyway, if you want to disallow people from viewing your site architecture, juste put an "index.html" file in each and every folder of your site !
By example, you can say in the index.html something like "you are not supposed to be here, asshole", or something more casual if you prefer

the other option is to use the .htaccess (you should be able to add a line or two to force redirection of users to a web page of your choice)
check it on google or whatever searching engine

I think what you want is "Options -Indexes". Put it in an .htaccess file as high up in your document tree as you need.
