just for the record, in france we had a law that allowed us to make personal copies of cds/dvds (to avoid scratching audio cds in the car or etc)
We paid for it as for each cd-r (or dvd+-r, even hdds), a certain amount of money is going back to the music majors (a half of a cd/dvd prize O.o)
anyway, now we don't have the right to do it anymore, but still pay for it (yeah ! i love this new law)
La faute à Raffarin?
no, raffarin has been kicked out for quite some time now ;p
but i heard the guy that maked the law pass was a close friend of the universal PDG.... that helps XP
We used to pay a tax on casset tapes... don't know if they moved that over to blank CD/DVD media or not. With all the copy protection they've tried over the years, they better not have.
Meh, I can't put into words the level of weak that is, Shautieh. That just plain blows.
thanks to Silverwmoon!
i know, it's a pain in the ass to have the government passing a law it doesn't even understand.... and it only looked at the interests of the majors >.<
