    Default Workstation GPU advice.

I intend to build the following work system for me:
    Core 2 Duo X6800
    4GB DDR2-1067 RAM
    Dual 150GB 10 000rpm Raptors in RAID 0
    Dual 24" Dell monitors.

However, I am stumped on which video card to get.
Should I get a Quadro FX5500 or Quadro FX4500 X2 or just get two Quadro FX3500 and SLI both?

    Total budget:
Not exceeding $9000 for the total.

    Edit:

Or should I go for a dual Xeon (Woodcrest) solution?

Have you checked 3DLab's models? Like the Wildcat Realizm 800. I've heard that their performance can beat Quadro FXs (I'm not really sure though).

Well, worth researching I guess... I don't know how good its availability in the market though..

Uh and.. if I were to choose I guess I'll take the Woodcrest solution. Go for a dual proc board and you can expand later on should the need arise...

Not quite sure if that won't break the budget though :P

What are you doing with it? If it's a workstation... what kind of work?

Kinda got to buy for that... like if your doing 3d CAD... you can get away with not a lot... but better to have a fucking horse.

    Edit:
Looking at you choices... I'd say a single Power House with Dual Head built right into the design of the card.
Dual in SLI config would probably perform better... but the fancier you get the more chance of something going wrong. Not good on a workstation.
    Vol~

    thanks to Silverwmoon!
