    Default internet explorer not working

Internet explorer hasn't worked since maybe february. I didn't bother to try to fix it then and since it's been too long i can't tell you what I did that might affect it's purformance. Basically, the server isn't loading any pages. The same problem happeneds on Opera too. The only browser I have working is mozilla.

Also, my msn messenger hasn't worked since I installed trillian. And even on trillian it refused to work. Yahoo messenger on trillian only works on one of my accounts. I also tried to re-install yahoo messenger and it wouldn't log me in. I then uninstalled trillian hoping maybe that was the solution. But it didn't work. I havn't yet reinstalled trillian to see if the accounts would still work. But I doubt they would.

    Msn messenger online works fine.

I seriously have no idea what to do at this point other than reformat my computer..which I'm not at all eager to do..nor do I even plan to. That's just really a last resort.

    Thanks in advanced~

Reinstall of your OS is one solution.

    a repair is another

Boot from your windows install disc (i assume that youre using XP, if not, dont do this!)

Tell the installer to repair the installation, just keep telling it to repair. sooner or later i will look as if its installing windows, just let it run, it shouldnt take a 1/3 of the time a normal installation does. Let i reboot all it wants and voila. when its done you have a new windows. with all your programs intact and all your icons

but as allways. do backup the stuff you care about from that drive

If this doesnt make sense. ask again

    I suggest is:

    1. Uninstall and reinstall the browsers and if that don't work then

    2. Check to see if your Firewall is not blocking those programs; try disabling them and see if it works or

    3. Download a registry cleaner or repairer and repair the registry as it seems thats your source of problems

    4. If that doesn't work then I recommend a clean reinstalment or recovery of your OS and remember to back up the data.

    Good Luck.

I've tried everything except number 4. I'm trying to avoid reformatting my computer. Since I don't have a lot of time to do so.

    And so nothing worked~thanks anyway

That didn't work either. I'm starting to think I'll need to reinstall everything...I'll avoid doing that as long as possible though..

Do you run through a proxy? If so, check your Prioxy settings under... hum... tools/preferences, I think.

Here is another weird idea... maybe try installing Advent Browser. It's based off the IE rendering engine, so maybe installing it will fix something. Worth a shot, and you can always shitcan it.
