I downloaded the first few eps of Love Hina off the Evil Empire, and each one is said to be about an hour and a half long, but when I actually try to play it on VLC, I only get playback for about half an hour of the actual eps.
VLC is a great media player and all.. but I never thought that I'd be having problems with it [outside of trying to play Matroska... which'll never work]... but now I am having one... help?
PS:: Love Hina is in .ogm format, a format that should be supported fully by VLC.
Uhh, what the fuck?

Well, when I was watching the first ep, it only got to the part where Naru shows her boobs to Keitaro and says that they got bigger. I KNOW that that part isn't the end of the ep... nowhere near it... there are still a few more things that need to be done before the ep ends... so it cuts off earlier than just half an hour and shows an hour and a half as the ep length...
damn... two problems with one thing.
hmmm that usually happens when your download isn't finished or stopped for some reason. Try redownloading it.
They all finished downloading though. All of them are like... 200+ megs, which is exactly what the site said that they would be.
I'll try it... but I doubt that it'll change anything because of the way it's acting now.
Depending on where or how you got it, you can try to check the hash. If it's a torrent, you should be good if the software says it is. If you got it from IRC, see if anyone can make you a checksum hash to check your eps against. If it's direct... well, find out who did the subbing (what group) and see if you can get in contact with them to request a hash.
It sounds like either VLC has a problem or the header of the file is bad (if the codec or file type supports headers). You can try re-installing VLC (easiest), or you can try and extract the video/audio/sub files from the OGM container and repack them... but that probably won't do you any good, and it's a little tricky at first (especialy if you don't get the right tools).
thanks to Silverwmoon!
I tried redownloading the episodes via ddl. They seem to be working fine now (getting the full eps to view), but in the bottom left, where the player tells you how long whatever you're watching is, it reads about 5x as long as what you're watching really is...
And I checked all the compatability stuff that VLC has with this kinda video [dual audio, with subtitles]. The site says that it should work fine... but here we are now...
Should I just get CCCP or KLite instead of using VLC to stop this kinda problem from happening?
Well if you can see the episode it should be enough :P. Try mediaplayer classic, you can get it from www.free-codecs.com that's what i use mostly because it hardly uses any resource and it can play any codec.
