    Default Computer Case Recommendations

I have been thinking about building a new computer. But before I do, I would like to ask some questions of the wise people of the forum...

    1. I want something with a lot of space. Should I go full tower, or is that just too large and unnecessary, and I should go with mid tower?

    2. ATX, or that new BTX that looks like it might die off soon, but then again might become the industry standard?

    3. What brand do y'all recommend? I was thinking Thermaltake, but I am open to other ideas.

Thank you for the input, and have a nice day.

You can get a case as big as you want, in my opinion bigger is better cause you never know about the tight spacing requirements. Unless you mind having a heavy case I think full tower is good but mid tower is enough for almost everything.

As for BTX and ATX, I have ATX case right now so I wouldn't know about BTX but there is an article about it http://www.technudge.com/2006/06/btx...ng-ground.html
I don't think it's going to die out.

Umm, I think Thermaltake is a good brand, so are Lian Li, Antec, Koolance and Cooler Master. Koolance is good if you are looking for water cooled case. Lian Li cases look cool though, they are more "modern" style than most case makers. Hope this helped you.

After all the micro-slices I got... go with 'big enought to fit your MOTHER FUCKING HANDS IN' style case.

    Hrmm... lego case... XD
http://www.poseidonguild.com/legos/ <-- in case you never saw them before.

To be honest, I never put a shitload of stock into the type of case. What's cheep and gives me the most options to work with is how I would look. I mean... shit, I can get some wood and build a multi-shelved unit to put components on and run them that way. Would make swaping a bad one out a breeze.

Just remember one thing... you can always cut holes, but filling them back in is a pain in the ass. XD

LOL Lego Cases...I wonder if it would be actually cheaper to get a case of Lego? It looks cool too. When I look for a case I take the looks into consideration but I guess it doesn't really matter.

I also check for fan positioning, fan size/amount and if it fits the mother board I'm picking but that's about it. Most importantly is the price in my opinion, if you spend an extra 100$ on your case it could have gone to something better.

i'd recommend a full tower too, if you have enough place of course ^^

and without fan on the side if possible but that's not important.... just take into consideration the warming/noise issue because there are a lot of crappy made tower that rely only on fans to do the work

That reminds me... if your putting a case together yourself, you need to consider how it's designed to find a way to direct your airflow. Some cases do better sucking in air from the front, and blowing it out the back. Other take in air from the back and blow it out the front or side. Others still take air in from the front and back and blow it out the side.

It's up to you how you wish to set it up. Just make sure it's the best way for the case. Never put the fans in so that they all blow air in, or all blow air out. You want a flow... not a vaccum or void of air.

or if you have an old fridge, put the components in there and you will be sure it will stay cool (you can even put some beverage in there, right within range )

ps : in fact i would like some observations about it lol

    i want a fridge case ><

i wonder wouldn't you get a electric shock if your beverage spills inside your case or the condense water does?

of course you would have to be careful and avoid condense water
and don't spill your beverage (but that's not harmful as soon as you put the computer in the upper side of the fridge...)

if you try, i'd still like some observations because i didn't test it
