    Default how do i get rid of surf side kick??

    i am very sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else but i tried to search for it and it didn't come up... but anyway... has anyone else been infected by that stupid msn/IM bug virus thing?? like someone in you contacts sned you this link about picutures of you and/or friends on a myspace site? yeah well i click that.. and i got infected and the stupid thing installed programs incl. surf side kick. ... my anti-virus picked up an infected file after i accidently installed this file that had a virus in it... but some of the settings on my computer had been changed and still isn't back to normal... (i use sophos by the way).. and stupid surf side kick has all these popups.. stupid adware... adn i don't know how to get rid of it.. HELP please... oh and i got that originial virus about 2 wks ago... if that helps... .. is there a simple way of getting rid of it? thanks in advance.

    Did you try Spybot or Adaware? And if so, did they catch anything? A bit more information would be helpful, and you might find searching "surf side kick" and maybe add "adware" to that search, and see what you find, someone else somewhere has probably solved this problem, the key is finding who, and where. Good luck, and I'll see what else I can possibly do to help.

    Oooh hell. I've seen this before. A few months back, a lot of people in my dorm had this. I never did see the solution, but if scanners and AV programs don't work, you can try to remove it from being called, at least. If it's the same bug, this is an IE thing, right? Try going to Tools, Manage Add-Ons, and see if it's in the list. If it is, disable it. You might even be able to delete it from here. I don't remember.

    I'll get back to it if I get a chance. Busy lately.

    oh! i found surf side kick in the add/remove programs!! ok.. i've removed it.. it's been 1/2 an hour since i've rebooted and i've only gotten 1 pop-up that one was completely blank?! ok... well wish me luck! *crosses fingers* i do hope that was the solution! (i really don't want to download more programs!)

    too bad i realise now that the stupid virus has infected my comp with other adware... urgh.. eg ipwins.exe and i've deleted that from program files... i wonder if i have any other stuff... *waves fist at virus*
