You got your System Restore on? If so, just restore it back to a point before you deleted IE. Then do some virus and adware scans since you are getting a lot of pop-ups.

Oh wow, you are using Win2000 ... I thought everyone would be using XP by now. Ignore the system restore comment, Win2000 does not support that.

You will probably find a solution for your problem if you do a specific search up on Google or check the Microsoft website, but if you want, you could just reformat and install the latest WinXP OS (unless you have a really poor computer).

You are all forgetting one crucial thing:

It is IMPOSSIBLE to uninstall Internet Explorer on a Windows OS.

So, there IS someting seriously wrong with your computer, though it may not be what you think it is.

Google up on how to reformat.

If you have a XP cd, just insert it into your CD-ROM and set your Windows to boot-up from CD first, it'll take you to an easy to follow setup on how to install XP (along with disk partition). If you want to install other OS, you'll need to make a boot disk.

hum.... if you format you will lose all your data.... so save it before doing so ^^"

with windows vista coming, i don't see the interest to buy an XP OS right now though, so i would stick with windows 2000...

and @newbie : a LOT of people are under older versions than XP... why ? because it takes less space on the drive and ram so it's interesting for older computers, and they have less viruses, which is good too
    and it's cheaper, btw

ps : if you want a better OS without paying for it, take a linux distrib (ie no need to pirate)

It is possible to remove IE... if I remember right, M$ caught some serious shit for not allowing it for a time, so now you can. Also, you can create a restore point of sorts in Win2k using the backup utility that is installed by default with the OS. I know it doesn't do you any good now, but it is possible.

Meh, make sure you got IE 6 installed (you said you downloaded it) and then try the repair command listed at the bottom of this page.

Worth a shot before you reformat.
    Vol~

    thanks to Silverwmoon!
