what does the error msg say?
is this media player classic? or Windows Media Player 10?
    WMP10 sucks, use version 9.

There's no error message. It just freezes. And the player is MPlayer.

Umm.... what OS X you got? If you have less than Tiger (10.4), you can't use the newest one, and need an old version. Also, on 5-21-06, there was a patch released for the OSX Tiger Binary.

Also... I don't think it is a codec problem, as your playing a standard AVI file and MPlayer should handle those fine. I was wondering if you might need the major codec pack from Mplayer HQ, like you do on Linux, but a standard file should play fine.

Take a look at that stuff, and the site I got my info from ( http://mplayerosx.sourceforge.net/ ), then tell me what you think. If that solves the problem, great.. if not, let me know and I'll look around some more.

OH! Also check for me if you can run MPlayer from the command line... just to make sure it's not the GUI or that Drag & Drop thing.

Uhh... ok. I take it that you needed the patch or something worked. Post what you did if it was something specific. Nice to have the answers ready and available if someone else has the same problem.
