    Format and reinstall Windows.
Or switch to Mac OS X or Linux.

umm actually Norton is quite good,
well why don't you use partition magic, make sure you make enough room, at least twice bigger than your c drive space, and move the files you want to save and other moveable files/programs to your other partitions from C drive, and then reformat C drive, after that use Norton Ghost, to copy/back up the c drive into the other partition, so next time, if your windows crash or get a virus, because you visits porn site too much, just restore the c drive back using norton ghost, it will be faster than reformatting, less than 20 min. That should fix your computer for once and for all.

Format would solve your problems but you can try and run an online scan first from Trend Micro or something.

Flash is right about the partition but you have to be careful what you move into the partition...the files you move could contain the virus :O

My opinion when you get your computer fixed, switch to another antivirus (Even a free one like NOD32, AVG, Bitdefender, etc.) If Norton allowed the downloading of an infected file and didn't block it then it proves it can't keep you safe.

well, what I'm saying is file like your personal data (music, photos, etc), not the one that you are unsure of.
you can get the computer fixed, and then do the partition and n.ghost thing.
the free one should be enough, IF you do partition and ghost back up.

    XD ^_^
Only thing I can add is that if you have a good and trustworthy burner (and good media too), you can backup your partition to disks as well, if you don't have or want to use the HD space.

And make sure you keep backing that thing up... run an AV and adware scan, then back it up every few months.

Also... umm.. there is a new Norton Ghost out. Its uhh... Norton Save & Restore is the new name. Doesn't look like Powerquest Drive Image anymore (who they bought a year or so ago). You can probably find out more about it at find.pcworld.com/52776 or it will be a trial dl link... not sure.

Another thing you might want to look into is Microsoft Tweak UI. Free from M$, but not supported by them. Will give you lots of little extras to enable in windows, one of which would be moving MY DOCUMENTS to your Data partition that you made... if you would like anyway. Check find.pcworld.com/52732 for more info about that.

Can you tell I was reading a PCWorld magazine lately? XD
    Vol~

Don't use System Restore for Windows XP. Most god damn useless fricking tool in the WORLD. If you are actually desperate enough to use a System Restore point (Brings the computer back to that point) then the computer might not even be able to turn on. What if the computer cannot turn on, meaning you can't access the System Restore Program? Norton Ghost is so much better.

I've had viruses and spyware lurking in my old System Restore Points, so when I did use one to escape from a virus it just backfired in my face. Plus, it takes up like a gig of space.
