Desktop PC VS. Notebooks
this summer i plan on buying a computer. I havent decided if i want a Notebook because its portable or a Desktop because they are better for less. I want basically a multimedia and gaming computer. Something where I can chat on msn, listen to music on iTunes, watch Anime, read manga, and play World of WarCraft. Plus with Notebooks is it possible to set it up so you can have internet any where in the world so i can bring WoW to school? If so what do i need?
A gaming laptop is quite expensive.
WoW at school is quite useless too.
seems to me you need a desktop. for simple things like speed and power that laptops cant provide. sure there are powerful laptops out there but they cost so much and lack the power and customizeability (w?) of a desktop. sure you can carry them around (like bricks) but the internet isnt everywhere yet and its kinda pointless unless you absoutely need it for something.
i vote desktop
I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

but the real question is, can you have wireless internet around the world, like a wireless network or something?
Only where there's a hotspot/router and that you know the password if there's one.
There are exceptions to that, if you have some sort of data plan, like Verizon has these data plans for cell phones (I don't know about laptops) or PDAs and you get internet access wherever there is a data network available, you can surf the net. Data coverage is almost as good as a regular cell phone coverage, I believe things like text msgs and such use it. Anyway, I have heard of Verizon broadband access wireless, but I'm less sure of it, but in any case you can connect your cell phone/PDA to your laptop.
It's expensive though, and the speed isn't the best, but you get pretty good coverage, especially in the major cities like New York.
PCs, you get the best performance for the least money, but you're stuck to one place for the most part. Also, remember laptops are the most difficult and expensive to upgrade and don't expect to have like 3 drives or 2 or more HDs (possible, but rare), it wouldn't make sense to have external since it'll be huge. XD They also suck up alot of battery power.
Laptops are only worth it if you absolutely need the portability, games aren't really a solid reason, no matter how big of an addict you are ^_~
Plus it's expensive...
Having said that, I'm hooked on them ever since I was forced to use (sister moved out with the desktop) her Inspiron 9400, very nice...
lol. well i do need gaming so i guess desktop is the best idea because i need something fast and powerful for my room now i just cant wait till august
well, this is nearly useless and probably pretty weird, but the keyboards on laptops are very much conducive to typos. they're far more sunken-in than one you would find on a desktop and slow typing speed.
i'd recommend going for a desktop solely for the hard drive space....
