    Default Unkillable Spyware???

i got a good program called TuneUp Utilities 2006 yesterday and all of a sudden my computer was ASSAULTED with what felt like hundreds of viruses and spyware... ive found the programs i think are responsible and i highlighted them with a pink 1 and 2.

problem number one is the biggest... all my virusblockers/spyware detectors pick it up as a high threat but none of them know how to get rid of it. i tried deleting it but the process is always in use and when i kil the process less than a second later it pops up AGAIN...

problem number two is probably less severe and is just as annoying and when i click it it tries to auto install SpywareFalcon or some thing on my comp... if i dont click it it does nothing... i think....

    can someone help

... who woulda thought my 100th thread would be a negative one... *cry*

Well, i've never heard of TuneUp Utilities 2006 which might be a sign in it self. If it were me i'd download "AVG free" get the latest updates (it update at random time everyday, somtimes multiple times) run it, and it should get rid of any and all virus's.

Deleteing the file that the virus is showing up as wont get rid of it beacuse its probobly running thru a couple diffrent files, hence the reason we need virus scanners to go thru and find every file that its attached to.

For spyware i use spy doctor, you have to pay for it but i got it for free from a torrent at torrentspy.com.

Dont bother with virus blockers or fire walls all they do is slow your computer down and they dont work 99% of the time.

i have both of them and i ran both of them and they both found it but are unable to kill it permanently

and ive seen and heard great things about TuneUp Utilities and it seems pretty official, no one else has ever had a problem with it so i dont know if thats what caused it all. im just marking the time around when i installed it as to when problems started

/me has no antispyware yet doesn't have any spyware

    Hello SD, having problems?

Try Spybot, but I highly recommend you to format.

Oh and TuneUp Utilities is useless if you know how to manage your computer properly.

!!!, well now thats not good. Give me a few minutes i'll see what i can find out about getting rid of it.

I had that happen to me one time and i just ended up formating beacuse it just kept getting worse.

Edit: That "virus" is actualy a program called atomclk.exe (atom clock), it wont let you delete it beacuse its intergrated into you windows clock manager, if its infected for some reason with a virus then the only way to get rid of it is 2 ways

    1: Try reinstalling windows.
    2: Format the hard drive.

Heres a little write up on it

"ATMCLK - AtomClock will dial the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington D.C.,
readthe 1200 BAUD time signal their atomic clock puts out and set the
Amiga system clock accordingly. It runs from Workbench or CLI
(distribution archive is "SUPERFRIENDLY"). The default configuration
will work with a Hayes-type modem but parameters can be adjusted for
just about any modem. Good example of serial port access and reading
    icon TOOLTYPES."

To get rid of the spyware go here http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/show...?Number=205882 it'll tell you.

The lowest risk thing you can do is try reinstalling windows, it should break the link between the virus and the program at which point run the virus scan again.

If all else fails... FORMAT your hard drive... (save a copy of your files of course)...

The programs I use, which I reckon are pretty good and I have not had any serious spyware issues is Microsoft Antispyware, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search and Destroy. I highly recommend Lavasoft Ad-Aware.

With the problems of existing spyware on your computer, though I don't have this program myself, whenever I have a problem, this program is mentioned as a solution. The program is called HijackThis. I think it scans you computer and finds the spyware (also in the registry) and creates a log, and then you delete the files or something in Safe Mode. Sorry I cannot provide any more information cause I am at school, and the school blocks the sites
no way to way, no limitation to limitation...
