Thread: Suzuka Withdrawal Symptoms! I need help!

ooh... I loved Kare Kano too... I knew of the anime first but it ended horribly so I went and read the manga and it's one of the best manga I've read... the story was developed really nicely and it's great how arima and yukino managed to pull through their problems together...
So far I've never come across any other manga which comes near Suzuka and Kare Kano... Itazura na Kiss is not bad, though...

I personally liked Suzuka a lot! But the manga that really had me experience withdrawal symptoms was Ichigo 100%.

Incidentally, I stumbled over another manga/anime in the past few weeks, which reminded me a lot of Suzuka.

It's called Over drive and deals with a high school freshman discovering bicycling and doing track as a motive to change his timid character and impress his crush.
The protagonist indeed has a lot of similarities with Yamato. But what really struck me were the track events. All the tension and fascination for a certain kind of sport was something I thought only to be found in Suzuka but really suprised me when appearing in Over Drive.
This is what it takes to constantly suck you into a story, if you can't let go of the manga although its already 4 am in the morning only because you want to know how the race is ending and if the main character can indeed beat the enemy ace (yes, Over Drive even has its own equivalent to Arima).
Still, Over Drive on the other side unfortunately has its lenghts (people cannot have such a bad memory that they constantly have to see all these flashbacks and recaps) and the romance has yet to develop. But if you were a fan of the sports part in Suzuka, liked to see Yamato's development and were clinging to the screen during the tournaments, Over Drive might be a welcome surprise for you. Especially if you like bicycling.
