Im going with Suzuka, the main reason being that it isn't finished yet even tho Ichigo 100% was good

    Listen to the noise

hmmm, they are quite look alike.....
look up to the I"S characters, and you will se them are alike a bit.

the true is, the femenine characters cannot be too much different between them in each manga. is basic, you basically need an advancing girl (1), a beaty but shy girl (2), a girl whit doubts about his love with the main character (3), and a advancing girl who probably ends in a tragic character who loves the main character and ends alone (4) and some bitch trying to take advantage of the main character (5, them you have the basic plot, then you put a kind of guy, normally a very unpopular with girls or whitout experience with them (6). the only difference is on the succes in the argument and the ending, is not very complicated to think.

    look:
    Nishino Tsukasa (1)
    Aya Toujou (2)
    Kozue Mukai (3)
    Satsuki Kitaooji (4)
    Chinami Hashimoto (5)
    Manaka Junpei (6)

now compare with other mangas like I"S or Suzuka.

personally, i think Ichigo 100% did best than Suzuka using this sources, and it ending was quite fast, but for me, was enought.

    bye

lol double-posted. that's not quite true btw; at least not for akamatsu's stuff:

sure you have the shy (shinobi), the take advantage (mistune), and the unsure (naru). but then you have the crazy (kaolla), the psychobitch with a gentle side (motoko), and the helpless airhead (mutsumi).

edit: let's not even get into MSN; the number of different personalities there is just... too many to list. yue wins, but i digress.

Default It's instant replay I tell you.

Rymachelin only mentioned what he calls the "basic" stereotypes, which I agree with.

To expand even further, an extended list of the archetypes commonly used in other series that are classified as a harem or contains harem features which include: DNA², Ai Yori Aoshi, Dual!, Martian Successor Nadesico, Kanon, Mahurabo, Gatekeepers, Shuffle!, Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo!, Urusei Yatsura, and Vandread.

    1) Housewife Personality (Aoi Sakuraba from Ai Yori Aoshi)

    2) Tomboy (Akane Tendou from Ranma 1/2)

    3) Mentioned above as "some bitch trying to take advantage of the main character" or as I would like to put it the Slightly Older Woman (Kitsune Konno from Love Hina)

    4) Little Sister Personality (Sasami from Tenchi Muyo)

    5) The aforementioned Shy Personality (Shinobu from Love Hina)

    6) Mentioned as the "advancing girl." The Foreigner or "Yankee" Busybody Personality (Yuka Saotome from Suzuka)

    7) Genius / Prodigy (Ruri Hoshino Martian Successor Nadesico)

Also aformentioned as an "unsure" personality, the Relaxed Carefree Personality (Karin Aoi in DNA&#178

    9) Rich Girl (Ayaka Yukihiro from Negima!)

    10) Competitor (Ran from Urusei Yatsura)

    11) Super Serious Personality (Misuzu Sotomura from Ichigo 100%)

Mixtures of the above are all to frequent too. Those female archetypes are a staple in the genre.

Throw in the lead character who is worthless that eventually grows to be a tad bit less worthless and like stated by rymachelin - you got yourself the makings of a harem manga.

Also a common theme within the genre is that the "best" or final choice for the main character is either the one he first meets out of the harem and / or the one that has their relationship delayed the most. Ichigo 100% is the only series I remember that deviates from both those aspects.

Repetitive Genre? Obviously, yet we the fans keep wanting more.

    thanks
i'm agree too, is a repetitive genre but coming to think on it, here in Argentina been an ichigo 100% fan is like suicidal, because all the readers here have seen I"S first, or DNA or Love Hina, etc. so them thinks Ichigo 100% is a vile copy of I"S (i don't think that, because I"S and Ichigo 100% have both strong points). so i was impressed entering in other countries forums, because them talk as well of Ichigo 100%, instead of here where all you can read is "Ichigo 100% is an modern I"S, only with horrible history and very most horrible Drawning" (here we have only 5 Vols and the number 6 comes the next month, soo they are talking about all the manga only reading the 5 first chapters... all who read it knows that the real argument comes at Vols 7-9... or that i think at least) instead of that i read it all after to say how was, and at this point im with Ichigo compared with Suzuka, and with I"S too.

Ichigo 100% is a good history for me, is not the most harem manga ever (i didn't read much of them more than DNA, Suzuka, Ichigo and I"S. so i can say too much) but it's not a worst job, was cool to read, really, that's my impression.

hm, to me, that was actually a downer. i much preferred toujou to have ended up with manaka. i think quite a number of fans felt the same way.

at the beginning the most think "toujou will be with manaka at the end" i think that too at the beginning, but was unpredectable and he took Nishino.
at the end, you can see that Manaka and Toujou can't been lovers, because toujou is too much shy, and manaka some kind of stupid... Toujou is more like a best friend for him. they have a Dream, all starts with that, then each one likes too much of the other, so they fall in love, but as you can see nothing happens with manaka and toujou, really nothing, even them didn't kiss each other, that's because they was soo shy (bad luck sometimes, too). but when he is with nishino, he doesn't need to do nothing, nishino does all by herself for manaka, only at the end he take's action and in that moment is very clear the final choice of manaka junpei. toujou decides at the end to follow her dream, because trying to be with manaka, who loves Tsukasa, and leave a good School, can fuck her dream, and that's an important life lesson, DREAMS > Boyfriend/Girlfriend :P

but i think... Satsuki is really who got a bad end... he clearly still seeing manaka as her idol... i think she really deserves a best ending or a happy one, cuz even Aya toujou got one.
