Well , to tell the truth, Love Hina is totally rubbish , unrealistic and childish. Suzuka has been very interesting so far but its art cannot compare to Ichigo 100% , its character developments suck, above all , damn less romantic than Ichigo 100%, too serious so it's suitable for older reader. Ichigo 100% has the best character expressions so far ... I really love its art !!!
well ichigo 100% wins from suzuka easy.
although both of the series main chars suck big time

Yoko_kyuubi , care to tell me and various others how Ichigo wins from Suzuka easy. There is 26+ people that fail to see how that is.Originally Posted by yoko_kyuubi

While Love Hina isn't totally a piece of crap, if you talk plot, character development, logic, and anything else that involves thinking past the 5th grade level then it falls short. Very short. Story-wise Love Hina has no merits other than comedy.
Okay maybe I missed something and Love Hina does deserve some literary merit, but if Ichigo 100% is forgettable comedy then Love Hina is that much worse.Originally Posted by Freeter (in Page 1 of this thread)
Plot and character depth are different things altogether.Originally Posted by Freeter
While I argue the point that Ichigo 100% as of right now is slightly better than Suzuka overall, Yamato isn't any better than Manaka. Any male lead character from this genre seems to have an innate destiny to instantly fail at thier paper lives, as discussed on multiple other threads on this forum.

Bear in mind that Love Hina is much older than others , and many shounens has been inspired greatly by it (including Ichigo). Saying "Love Hina is rubbish" is kinda ignorant and also despising to the author...
It's hard to compare with the oldies like Love Hina, but I would say Ichigo owns Suzuka so far, even in this forum (Suzuka) Ichigo still gets more votes.

But even older series than Love Hina like I"s, Tenchi Muyo, and DNAČ have more plot and better character depth than Love Hina. It being older is hardly an excuse for it to underdevelop its characters and ignore the importance of a deep plot.Originally Posted by VNS_None_
Ignorant? No. Ken Akamatsu has authored many tankubon's and titles. Some better than others. Negima which follows Love Hina's slapstick harem style while including a plot to create more than a mere humorous read is an example of how he can incorpororate a plot. Authors will get bashed. Why? Because critics need thier paychecks too. Love Hina is criticized for valid reasons.Originally Posted by VNS_None_

Negima > all of the above in plot, action, character development, and the quality of the main character. but then again, it might be because negima isn't completely a harem manga.
i actually liked Love Hina more than Ichigo 100%. while both felt fairly repetitive, Love Hina was more amusing.
The same can easily be said of Ichigo. In fact, it falls harder because the author herself admitted to not having any sense of plot direction.Originally Posted by d.A.
LH actually has a plot. That's the difference. Ichigo was nothing but random stuff until the editors got fed up and forced Kawashita to get her act together. By the time she did it was too late and she stopped caring, hence the rushed ending.if Ichigo 100% is forgettable comedy then Love Hina is that much worse
Not entirely, as character depth is often indicative of story progression (unless the author is obviously milking the cow, like in School Rumble's case). Despite all the crazy situations thrown at him, Keitaro actually matures throughout the course of LH. Manaka was such a shallow character that he could've been a total failure at the end and it still would've been plausible. He only got the happy end that he did so that it would meet Jump's motto of "Friendship, Hard Work, and Victory".Plot and character depth are different things altogether
That's also why even Misuzu's sidestory is better. It's the story Ichigo tried to tell, only with a better lead and without all the unnecessary baggage.
