Josh Childress ditch NBA for Europe?

If this does happen as it has been reported, JOsh childress would leave the NBA for a contract with Greece's Olympiakos for a reported 20 million(euros). And i think David Stern needs to worry cause this might be the first of many moves where you see players of his caliber leave the NBA for Europe. this might as well be the end of the middle-class in the NBA. And i wouldn't be surprised to see a star leave for EU in the next couple of years.

JOsh Childress is one of the emerging young players in the NBA. he is a former lottery pick so it does hurt the NBA which i think expansion has already hurt and create inflation where 2nd tier guys are getting superstar money. So Childress leaving, further thin out the talent pool.
Think about it, you dont pay taxes and if you do, you dont pay as much as you do in the US where the government takes 52% of that money(i call it theft). You add in 10% for the agent, lawyer, publicists, you are left with about 30-35% of the contract. add oil to the fire is that the US dollar is weak when compared to euros and you get to keep most of the money(in euro) when you play in Europe. You also get free lodgin, free cars(and a driver). You only pay for food. The fans are gr8 too.

So i say, Stern and his fat mug should definitely be worried because EU has become more attractive to young players.

meaning that the European Basketball club is starting to treat their players as how the European football club treated their high class players.

what's wrong with a leveling out of talent amongst leagues ? in any case, the euroleague still has a *long* way to go to ever hope to achieve the level of talent NBA has. plus they need to pay a premium to lure players to their side - and considering the fact that they don't have a limitless wallet, it's not something to worry about.

20 million euros for a no jump shot, limited handle, so-so defender, below average rebounder...... i hope greece ain't expecting dude to lead them to a championship.

Josh is an above average player, he is not great at anything in particular but he can do everything great. He is definitely one of the young emerging players in the league. IF i was him, i'd go to EUrope.

thats why i raised the question with this thread, because David is one arrogant individual and he thinks a "lesser" will never be able to attrack "his" talent. But Josh Childress is about to break that notion if he accepts this Euro Deal. And for people who questions the money availability to these Euro teams, let me just tell them some of those Euro teams are owned by Billionaires(

our same dollar was 1 euro =1.18 dollars US back in 2000.

so right now, 20 million EUro is equal to 31.8 millions with no taxes in Greece.

Most athletes pay about 52% of their income in taxes over here in the US.

He won't have to worry about major talent leaving, cause they won't, childress is role player, who's major highlight in his career is dunking on Yao Ming. NCAA has to worry cause what going to stop a highschool player from going overseas, for a yr or 2 before heading to the NBA.


David Stern isn't really worried, I've heard him in interviews express a lot of interest of expanding the NBA into Europe. If anything this may only accelerate that process, next owners meeting.
