The Chinese going into Tibet has brought streams of revenue flowing into the Tibetan economy in the form of tourism and civil works projects such as building roads.
No, it was because the great leap forward was retarded. Even the government admits that now.

Apologetics is never fun, if you find yourself in such a position you should probably ask yourself what the hell you're doing.

The Great Leap Forward was a disaster, yes, but it coincided with these natural anomalies, making it significantly worse on the people than it could have been.

Actually, it's entirely possible and it does happen. The Yellow River floods regularly throughout the years. And the areas around the Yellow River are extremely densely populated. 5 million here, 3 million there, another couple million there. On a bad year, if the water table rises just a little, the flooding can become catastrophic. Flooding, coupled with starvation from famine, can easily kill more than a world war. Especially in a place as densely populated as China.

There are over a billion people in China. So some of this stuff is going to happen. Compare that to the maybe 400 million that live in the US.

My opinion is that what they do isn´t right (DUH).I personally think the chinese culture and such are pretty interesting and I don´t have anything against the people there (so idiots who just say I hate *insertlandhere* are just dumb...idiots^^).And never judge the people by what those who have the power do - does anyone really think the poor peasants or your average Chinese have anything to do with the polititcs?so why hate China? If ya wanna hate someone, hate the government.
I don´t know if they´ll ever be really democratic or whatever, but I think the Olympic games are a step forward (at least I hope so).
Boycotting the thing wouldn´t do a thing, cuz the government does what it wants anyway. There should be other ways to do something about the Tibet - problem/crisis.
