Thread: New chapters of Shaman King?!

Volume 23 and 24 was released in Japan just a few hours ago if things are going as scheduled. According to SKN, there should be 2 new chapters to go with the new volume of reprints. Judging the point where they are supposedly at chapter-wise, I hope we learn something new about the Patch tribe.

I also hope to get some sneak peeks into some more characters in the "visionz".

Any opinions?

These are titled “Visionz.” On this page is an image of what a character would look like in the future.

Haven't we had Funbari no Uta for that? Well, we never got to see the characters' faces aside from Tamao's and Ryu's.

I don't really get why the art change. I mean yes, the character design IS better now imo but still, I don't see the reason why he would want to redo the chapters. and there's basically nothing "minor" about the art change.
My point is his first chapters are part of takei's evolution. Maybe he does feel like they need some upgrades but I don't see how that will make people who haven't yet read the manga become more interested in it. Moreover ...reprinting them seems like a waste of money.

He had to. Even if SK lacked an actual conclusion, it was officially over. Also, redoing the manga, with better art, means more money.

Anyway, what I know I'd love to see would be a GOOD animation of the entire serie.
Sk didn't deserve the shitty adaptation it had....

Though I know it probably won't happen anyway.

That's what I'm talking about. I doubt the fans will actually buy the old volumes just for the sake of it. The story will not change just because of the art. How much of a fanatic can a fan be ? O:
I mean, man, I LOVE Sk. It's been my fav manga for quite some time now. But even so, I'm not sure I'd buy the "remade" volumes.

My point is...what percent of the fans would buy the volumes? imo ...I doubt it will even be 50% of them. Also, I'll have to express my doubts regarding its chances of converting new fans. Sk is quite an old manga. And it's theoretically finished. If it hasn't drawn attention to itself by now, this new strategy has slim chances to do so.

Hmm, even though they're reprinting, it doesn't mean they're mass producing the product. I think their purpose is almost purely for advertisment. By slowly releasing to where they left off, it gives time for people who go to the comic stores to realize that Shaman King is coming back up and new chapters shall be arriving soon. So when new chapters do come back, it'll be as if they're starting right where they last left off years ago.

I'm not sure I like the art changes cause you can't tell that his style is evolving. It stills looks nice though.

We're talking about people who'll buy new DVDs with old content only because a new design on the case. It will definitely sell. Additionally, you cannot forget about newcomers.

Anyway, most fans I've seen have shown interest on KanZenBan.
