Thread: Questions about Hao

Hi there!!! Big fan of Shaman King and huge fan of Hao and cannot wait for the conclusion of SK but kinda sad at the same time. So anyways have a few questions and would very much appreciate thoughts and opinions

1) I heard that Hao had been married in his previous lives (which makes sense. Because he was a powerful figure in society in his first life when he got older right?) So my question is I heard he did not treat any of them properly and cheated on them is this true?

2) What was he like with his children because I cannot see him being a horrible father as he is so nice with Opacho but I be he would expect a lot from them with their abilties.

3) Too follow up on the question whether he was married or not too me he seems that he has never been in love. So my question is IF he did meet the right woman would his perception on life and humans change?

4) What his obession with Anna about?

5) What is your opinion on how SK ends for me I cannot see Yoh and co being able to defeat Hao by fighting him BUT I do think Yoh can defeat/save Hao's heart as Yoh is very good at reading feelings. I do not think Hao will be killled but I do not know if he will stay SK and it will be very intresting too see who it is at the end of FNU as I believe the conclusion of SK will reveal who it is. Your thoughts?

Plus if anyone could give me history on Hao on his previous lives it will be very much appreciated. Thanks!!

I don't really remember if hao was married so I can't answer any of those questions...

His obsession with anna has to do with here being like his mother I think.

Takei wrote some stories about hao before in the mappa douji I think. Relax also gives more info on his current life and how he met people.

aaah, yes. he had 3 kids. 2 girls and 1 boy, if I remember corectly.
dunno, maybe he raised them to conquer the world or something.
and his wife was the reincarnation of his mother.

I know that Hao was defianetly married in his second life. It mentions it in the anime/manga about a Patch Priest abandoning his wife and child to get the GS.

Also sakura_hana that is really intresting was this his orginal life and how do you know?

All of this is based off of the manga. I try to forget the anime (especially the dub) even happened. Also, I say these things as a fan of Hao. Not a basher (just sayin')

Well, considering he has descendents in both the Asakura family and the Patch tribe; and given the times in which he lived, it can be logically reasoned that he must have been married and had children. However, nothing more than that is known, because it's never been said any where in the manga and only briefly mentioned in the anime (I don't know about the fanbooks as I haven't a chance to read them). So everything else is speculation (And don't like anyone tell you otherwise. And any further information about his families in his past lives is either something someone read in a fanfic and got confused or just plain made up). I like to think (based my impression of him) he was rather distant (not in a way that would raise suspicion as back then men didn't really take an active part in maintaining the household), but he took care of his family (you know, up to til they got in the way of his only ambition, becoming Shaman King).

His fixation on Anna must likely stems from the fact she isn't scared of him and there's a good chance he knows about her reishi ability. Although, this is just my opinoin. Once again, it's not something that's outright said in the manga. Just context clues.

(Also, I feel the need the to say he never said she reminded him of his mom. Just another one of those theories that became an accepted truth. What he said was "She is the first to able to slap me besides my mom." Which actually isn't that fair of a comparison as he got his reishi after his mom died and he was like 5, so wouldn't have been that hard to slap him back then)

And finally, in his current state, I highly doubt Hao would ever fall in love.

1. Doesn't trust anybody (There's no love without trust) as shown from the fact he didn't his followers enough to tell them that he has the ability to read minds.

2. Very selfish. Like extremely self-absorbed (bound to be a strain on any relationship. Including a platonic one). I mean, this is the guy who referred to the event where all his loyal and devoted followers were killed by Peyote as a bad thing that happened to him and then wonders why nobody likes him (I admit I am paraphrasing. But read chapter 251 a couple times. That is basically what he says).

So all in all, not really relationship material. Charming as I don't know what, but not serious "I give myself to you" relationship material. Any girl who dates him is bound to get her heart broken.

Also, (just a bit of a side note and something to think about) have you ever seen him make any sort physical contact with anyone besides Anna (that was only twice)? Just something to think about.

(One might notice that I didn't answer the final question and that's because I've been trying not to think about the ending as I have a hunch what Takei is going to do and I can't stand the thought of it. But no. Hao won't die. That would be pointless. He would just come back in another 500 years and would be unstoppable)

Ara, unless im mistaken Hao has no children nor has he ever had any children. The only reason he has descendants in the asakura clan is because he was an asakura so when he died there were still asakuras around. The asakura's have been a strong spiritual force in japan for centuries, Hao was just the best and the brightest. He was actually the one who changed the family name to asakura(i dont remember what it was before him). As far as his descendants in the patch tribe goes silva is the only one im aware of and seeing as how hao has a ridiculous amount of furyoku it understandable that he would have to be reborn into a body belonging to a family with strong furyoku as well. The fact that it was a member of the patch who guard the godaiseirei was probably an added bonus.

As far as anna goes i think hao is so interested in her because of one: the fact that she not only defines herself as the woman who will marry the man who will be king and two: after all the people, demons, spirits and whatever else hes come across, she is the only person Hao has ever met whos mind he cant read. Not to mention the fact that she can use the 1080 to control his shikigami and unseal the chou senji ryakettsu. Something that hasnt been done by anybody else other than the last person to beat Hao.

Now these are all things that my experience and memory have led me to believe but if anybody has any examples that state otherwise id be more than happy to hear them.

As far as the ending goes i think that after everybody gets strong enough to use the godaiserei they will definitely be able to beat him because once their on the same level as him theres no way theyre resolve will lose to him. Its not like theres no room for seirous growth left either, theyre are still a couple of patch left to fight and who knows whats going to happen in between. But mainly i agree with anna when she says that theyre no way yoh and co are going to lose to a spoiled princess.

I do not think they'll ever be on the same level as him; the differences in furyoku, reiryoku and knowledge are really, really large. And now that HAO is about to become the Shaman King, I do not think they'll be able to defeat him in battle. They'll have to do something else if they want to bring him down.

While ill agree that the difference in furyoku and experience are large, its not like theres no room for improvement. Hao's furyoku is like one million and change but to use the a god class spirit like the godaiseirei you need to have a furyoku level of at least five hundred thousand and since their going to have them by the end of the manga we know were they will all be at the very least in power. So with their combined strength its not like the wont be on his level power wise, and i feel like people are forgetting that shaman king fights dont really work the same way regular fights do. An oversoul cant even be defeated unless the other has a heart AND power stronger than their opponents, power alone wont suffice so its not like hao can just blast everybody away with no problem. He's going to have to crush their resolve before their defeated and theres no way on gods green ball or the patch's oversouled continent that yoh and co are going to give up.

You know, i dont have that much of a problem with Hao actually becoming the Shaman king as long as his heart gets healed. I actually think he would make a pretty good king, but killing off all the humans is unnacepptable. I kind of think that once his heart is healed yoh will willingly join with him, but well just have to wait for that wont we.
