Default **!**!**WARNING MASSIVE, EXTREMLY, HORRIBLE, SPOILER**!**!**

yeah my friend read apparently the very last volume of shaman king, and he said in the end hao wins the tournament and goes through the forest to the king of spirits. there hao must face the trial of ten which is 10 members of the patch. meanwhile yoh and the gang decide to go after hao, so they go through the forest get their asses whipped by some of the members of the patch and get picked up by ren's patch tribe guy, to take them all back to his place and rest to fight hao. so the whole crew is there resting AND IT ENDS. THAT IS HOW SHAMAN KING ENDS. NO SHITTING YOU, I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF MY BOWELS AND VOMMITTED. THEY DONT END UP FIGHTING HAO OR NOTHING. i dont know if they were trying to set up a shaman king movie or the manga and the anime are connected and the series is meant to end with anime. but i must say this is possibly, might even be the WORST ENDING EVER.

    I don't think it's the worst ending ever...very incomplete...but whatever.

Isn't this like the 10th thread about the ending?

    Yes. yes it is.

An ambiguous ending doesn't mean a bad ending. In many ways, the open-endedness of Shaman King, while not the manga-ka's initial intent, makes it all the more interesting.

Shaman King didn't end yet. The Mangaka wrote somewhere that he was running out of ideas, so he needed time to refresh his memory. So later in about 2-3 years later, he will then re-start writing Shaman King at the part where they got their asses kicked by Hao But by then, almost everyone lost interested in the darn manga anyway.

So THAT's why the Mangaka made such a crappy 'non-ending' before he told us that he was running out of ideas...

In my opinion, he should've just ended the series after they killed off Hao. But Shaman King was made in like what, 1998/1999? So yeah, it's been past 5 years -_- I think he gave up on it.

Um, was the last chapter made in 1999? If that was when it started, 32 volumes in 5 years is somewhat reasonable.

Btw, correction to the first post: Hao doesn't need to go through the 10 trials, the patch just lets him through. The trials are to stop intruders. And Ren's patch dude died... long ago... at the beginning before the SF even started. It is Horohoro's patch dude that let them rest, but at the same time, doesn't let them through. It ended with Lyzerg getting the Spirit of Fire and about to kick Karim's ass.

No, he didn't run out of ideas. Judging from the letters that Hiroyuki Takei wrote to his team afterwardsa, it looks like nobody could really see where he was going with the story (which is a shame, because Shaman King has a LOT of story potential), and thus got bored. This resulted in a massive drop in popularity, because who wants to read boring manga? Anyways, the editors told him to wrap it up, and he did that in the best way he could.

I'd say Funbari no Uta is a pretty final word on the story, unless he plans to do something that takes place later. But it would seem that the Shaman Fight of 2000 storyline is done and over with.

On that note, the final chapter was made in....2004, I think? It was a 5-year series.
