Thread: Reiryoku (possible spoilers)

Can somebody explain to me what ultimately decides what oversoul wins in a battle of two oversouls?
Is it Reiyoku, Furyoku or something else? If you remember the second battle Yoh and Ren there was another factor that helped determine which oversoul was stronger; an calm mind.

Even though Ren put more furyoku into his oversoul, to make it more powerful, Yoh's oversoul was able to beat Ren's because Yoh was calm and Ren was angry.

Something I noticed was Amidamaru's Reiyoku was stronger than Basons
during Yohs and Rens fight.

If Reiyoku is what ultimately decides the strength of the oversoul then shouldn't Yoh have been able to beat Ren at the beginning of thier battle, no matter how much furyoku Ren put into his oversoul?

Remember when Horo Horo's dad beat the football shaman in Hao's group? The football Shaman definetely had more Furyoku than Horo Horo's dad, but the football shaman still lost. The football Shaman's spirit had less Reiryoku then his opponent's spirit so he lost.

This leads me to believe Reiyoku is the most important factor, but I'm still uncertain.

yeah i think they are both important . and about that thing with the calm mind....well, remember that one cannot control furyolu without a clear mind, i think this is the first manga which represents the idea of power growing if it is being controlled by a strong and calm mind. other mangas just adopt the other "strategy" : that anger is the most powerful and being more angry makes you more powerful.

sorry i may say something thats extremely wrong, but isnt the mind that keeps the form and power of the oversoul?so a calm mind will keep the form and power better than an angry chaotic mind. at least thats what i think

yoh won cuz he was calm and he also had more connetion to his spirit than ron did thats what i think was the reason of his win

dragoontt is correct. The oversoul is a manifestation of the spirit created with both the soul and the mind. We can compare it to Carbon. Carbons density can vary from graphite (used in pencils) to diamond. Therefore what they teach is tha the calmer person can control it better and it won't easily shatter. That is why Yoh defeated Ren's superior oversoul. Reiyoku is the power of the spirit. It's basically the furyoku of the spirit. If 2 oversouls are the same amount of furyoku well basically the stronger oversoul is the one with the stronger spirit. In the case of Bill (footbal guy) vs Horo's dad his spirit was much more powerful and he was completely clam and unaffected by his attack. Thus his oversoul was victorious. At least that's what I think.
