I got tired of waiting for the english scanlation - not complaining here, just impatient like how i always am - and bought the rest of the manga from my local bookshop. Reason why i didnt do so is because the manga's in chinese, which while i can read/speak rather fluently, isnt my language of choice when reading. (There's actually more to it, like how the chinese translation of the title can actually be translated to english as Shaman Kid really pissed me off, so yea)

Anyway, after reading, i've been thinking, it MIGHT be possible for Horo to "out-furyoku" Ren (and Yoh). Spoiler Of course, that is, at least before they set out to battle the patch officials.

Sometime before that, while taking a soak in the hot springs, Ren and Yoh talks about how Chocolove is the strongest and Lyserg is next in line while Ren admitted that he was now the weakest among the 5 selected warriors. Also, some time earlier (the next two chapters the scanlations are gonna publish) we learn A BIT about Horo and his namesake and we see his true strength (which kinda pissed Ren off imo). So it really MIGHT be possible.. End spoiler

A question though for those who might have finished the series already ( i'm 2 volumes away since my bookshop was out of stock today), is Horo's story told in the end ?

Edit: I just confirmed it, horo and co after getting a new spirit at the end, does become REALLY strong.. Not sure why Yoh's still so low though..

Do you think Hao's furyoku value would be so high if he didn't have the Spirit of Fire?
I originally thought that the furyoku value was independent of the Spirit but after Chocolove obtained his second spirit his furyoku value rised substanially.

well, in my country they have released til the 31 volume, so i will try not to put big spoilers.

so far i understand, that the people who has have a sad past like chocolove and lyzerg, they suffer a lot in hell, thay mention that lyzerg can't forgive himself for the deads of his family, and many other things, so chocolove and lyzerg they have a hell of a training (lol) compared with the others, also ren mentioned that he was the weakest of the five.

so i don't know th numbers but a think it goes like this
    first is the strongest:
    chocolove
    lyzerg
    yoh
    horo-horo
    ren

well, even thought i think horo-horo, could be more strong than yoh, but right now thats the way i see it.

ki0: Yes. I mean, like when Horo was fighting Blocken, they mentioned how the spirit's reiyoku should always be below the user's furyoku if not it's 'impossible to control'. Chocolove's furyoku's so high because he went through trials in hell before obtaining Ava.

: Actually, i've finished the series now, on the first chapter of the last volume (i forgot the chapter number), Anna reveals the furyoku values of those who're going to battle Hao to those who were with her. And indeed HoroHoro's furyoku's higher than Yoh's, surprising.

He had a higher reiyoku if you added up the Icemen's spirits and Kororo. Also, he was cunning enough.

Maybe furyoku stopped meaning much in a fight after Ren came back to life. It will regain meaning later in the manga as Ren gets sronger.
